Do's and Don'ts

by Terry Stanley

Drama is a powerful ministry tool to teach and enlighten ourselves and others about the Word of God.  However, with any powerful tool, there are always instructions that we need to follow in order to use the tool wisely.   Here are 10 things we should avoid doing in our ministry and 10 things we should strive to do.

Don't do this....                                                           Instead do this...

Preach to the audience Give life to the message through character interactions
Recite scripture only Dramatize the meaning of the scripture
Present your personal convictions Stay true to sound biblical doctrine
Stay in a comfort zone Present controversial issues with sensitivity
Allow sin to win Show repentance or judgment
Make fun of people or God - comedies Show people in funny situations
Entice our carnal nature Keep it "G" rated, that's for God
Entertain only Have a ministry goal in mind
Allow the cast to read a sketch Insist on memorization and quality
Write a sketch for personal revenge Seek only to glorify God
